AIM

In this lab, I will predict, perform and interpret the behaviour of woodlice. Because woodlice are unable to talk or voice their particular reasoning, I will put them within a certain scenario using stimuli and see the way they behave. The stimuli utilized are heat, light publicity and moisture conditions. Simply by pitting 6th woodlice in a certain circumstance in which the stimuli is shown in two conditions (i. e. using the light exposure stimuli it might be light and dark) and seeing how they react over a certain time frame. In this experiment, I will note down the exact quantity of woodlice at each part of the testing perimeter (they are evenly distributed at the start in the experiment) and find out how they approach and select a side to settle at every 30 seconds for 2 minutes. This could then be represented in graphical varieties and used to draw conclusions on the conduct of woodlice and their logic. I accomplished this lab together with my lab partner Sjors Mallon.

HYPOTHESIS

M OISTURE AND LIGHTWEIGHT EXPOSURE

Woodlice will probably choose dark and damp locations, as they are available in large numbers in those areas. Woodlice require moisture mainly because they inhale and exhale through gills, just like fish (woodlice are partially amphibious), and so are generally found in moist, dark spots, such as under rocks and logs. They are generally nocturnal1, feeding mostly on dead plant and shrub matter. Woodlice then recycle for cash the material back in the ground. In artificial environments including greenhouses exactly where it can be incredibly moist, a grouping of woodlice could become overpopulated, which causes damage to youthful plants inside the woodlice awaken. (Wiki) For this reason, the woodlice will probably like moist and dark areas to reside in.

T EMPERATURE

Woodlice can prefer a regular environment over an extremely hot alternative mainly because their bodies are not adapted to two extremes. In their damp habitats it can be probably a great intermediate temp. Also, as they are requiring drinking water or dampness to survive, warm conditions are certainly not favourable because water will certainly evaporate quicker. Because of this the woodlice will most likely move to the space temperature areas.
